Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real {a day in the mountains}

~PRETTY~

My sister drove through the mountains of North Carolina over the past few days and sent me these photos.  I couldn't help but use them for my blog.  (Thanks Sis!)This little white picket fenced house looks like a dreamy place to sip coffee and watch the sunrise or set on a cool fall day.
These  ornate doors make me expect to see a newly married bride and groom emerge to skip down those stairs.
~HAPPY~

There are red leaves appearing in those woods.  The trees where I live are still fully green but I know these days are just around the corner for us too.

~FUNNY and (un)REAL~

My sister said you can buy one of these enormous pumpkins for $50.00!  I bet it would be fun to carve and to help light up the front door for trick or treaters on Halloween.

HAPPY FALL EVERYONE!

  3. Loved those pictures! I live on the coast and miss the mountains! I couldn't believe how big those pumpkins were and certainly don't have an extra $50 to throw on a ginormous pumpkin -- but they would be fun!

  5. You've got a keen eye to see those great church doors! That pumpkin would be fabulous carved and lit. It's bigger than some of the trick-or-treaters that come to our door!

Petals :: 52 Photos Project

Where I live the Bradford Pears have bloomed and blown and the Cherry Blossoms are in full blossom.  Even though that means our allergy season is now officially underway, I cannot help opening our windows every morning in hopes of hearing the birds singing to greet the day.  Springtime has conveniently coincided with my personal recovery process from knee surgery.  As I am slowly re-gaining mobility on crutches it seems an added encouragement that the weather is also improving and the trees are welcoming my return with their flowers. What a treat it would be to be able to put down my crutches in time for Easter Sunday and walk again on my own! (I am doubtful but one can hope.) Sharing with 52 Photos Project :: Petals

Peaceful Snow Day

Yesterday we had the most lovely snow day. The woods were simply begging us to come and explore. We had new trails to find and secret passageways and hideouts. Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what is in books, for they speak with the voice of God. George Washington Carver There were tracks to follow. And tracks to make. Occasionally, the wind blew mini blizzards of snow around us. And then the sun returned and the sky gleamed blue. The sky is the daily bread of the eyes. Ralph Waldo Emerson There were hints of Spring. And reminders of winter. We made wonderful memories. And then, there were the snowy camellias. I got a little swept away by their color and beauty. I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. e.e. cummings ...
