For this week's Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real I went back a few years to the last time we actually carved Jack 'O Lanterns for Halloween. We used a pre-packaged kit from Target that came with stencils and tools. It was so easy and turned out quite well if we do say so ourselves! :)
Although the process is a bit messy, it is a fun mess. Scooping and scraping, handling the gooey insides of the pumpkin are great new sensations for little ones.
These pepitas are simply begging to be roasted in olive oil and sea salt! Here's a link to a simple recipe for toasted pumpkin seeds.
Our boys had run off to play and left Mom and Dad with the remainder of the carving to do by ourselves. We felt like kids again!
Will you be carving "punkins" this year?
gratefully sharing here
I LOVE eating pumpkin seeds!ReplyDelete
I'm hoping to find time to carve this year. Thanks for the inspiration!
What fun! I can't wait till the boys are bigger and we can carve pumpkins :)ReplyDelete
Great looking jack o'lanterns! How will they keep till Halloween??ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing the pumpkin seeds recipe!ReplyDelete
How fun! What great pumpkins.ReplyDelete
We're carving, but I always struggle with how soon to do it. Too soon, they start going bad, too late and you feel like you have to get rid of them because Halloween is over. Great pictures!ReplyDelete
Good job! They're charming.ReplyDelete
So cute! We usually just paint pumpkins. In our wet climate carved ones rot.ReplyDelete
Yum, pumpkin seeds! :) I painted our pumpkin last year, they spoil so fast in Hawaii's moist warm climate!ReplyDelete
AH! I can never get my Halloween pumpkins to look presentable when I attempt to carve them. I'm just not creative in that way -- at all. Fabulous job! Such fun!ReplyDelete
I love the jack-o-lanterns! Very creative. I don't know if we will get in more than one this year. But the kids love it no matter how many we do.ReplyDelete
