Daybook 1-24-11

A picture thought...
Look what they had at Walmart!
Outside my window…sunshine, chilly winds and looming clouds full of overnight rain.
I am thinking…about Spring thanks to my beautiful new tulips.
I am wearing…I cannot tell a lie ~ the same green hoodie and jeans from the past two Monday's daybooks.  Time to find a new Monday outfit!
I am hearing…the humming of the excavator in the lot next door where a new home is going up.
I am thankful for…my best friend and her unwavering support of my dreams. H2U!
I am going… to go give my three boys a hug and kiss...okay I'm back.  :)
I am hoping…I will find the family portraits that have been missing since we moved a year ago.
I am praying for…my friend suffering from Rasmussen's Encephalitis and in need of a miracle and the success of the fundraiser planned for her in February.
I am reading…  Sarabeth's Bakery : From My Hands to Yours by Sarabeth Levine.
I am creating…space for creativity each day.
I am pondering…these words in my morning devotional,  Jesus Calling , by Sarah Young:
"Thank Me when things do not go your way, because spiritual blessings come wrapped in trials."
God is leading me…to stop and pray more often.
In the kitchen…this week: citrus marinade tilapia, potsticker soup, and chipotle marinated pork tenderloin and something new from the cookbook mention above.
Around the house…accomplished the folding and vacuuming today.  Need to iron my husband's work shirts and quickly finish task 2 on the 52 Weeks of Organizing agenda before tomorrow!
One of my favorite things…Neutrogena Moistureshine lipstick in Ruby Bliss.

Locally Grown {stuffed green peppers recipe}

  Last weekend we took the whole family to a nearby produce stand.  We were craving something that tasted fresh from the garden and since I don't have my own garden, we found this place.     The fields were full of fall-colored flowered.  Can't wait for those cooler days to come.         But for now, we are reveling in the height of summer sunshine and produce.       It's easy to go overboard here and buy much more than you can use in the next few days.  I don't even like okra but they look so inviting in those cute blue crates.     These tomatoes inspired a caprese salad for lunch: tomato slices cut into quarters, hunks of fresh mozzarella, snipped basil leaves, salt, pepper and drizzles of olive oil and red wine vinegar.       These strawberries wound up being dunked in Silky Chocolate Fondue .       Every girl dreams of doing her shopping with one of these adorable woven baskets, doesn't she?       Even the boys had fun playing in the sand while I took m

How to Create Art in Five Minutes

As I have mentioned before, my word for this year is CREATE .  Painting with watercolors is one area in which I have been experimenting.  Michael's has a really inexpensive line of art supplies called Artist's Loft .  I bought the watercolor paints and a few brushes as a way to get started without much investment. (Everything is around $5-$10.)   Being a part of Alisa Burke's on-line class called Create Daily , has awakened my senses to the many opportunities to create quickly .  Sometimes we get caught up in the idea that we must have large blocks of time set aside to be artistic .  Surely, we think, it takes an afternoon to paint, collage, journal or compose a few lines of poetry.  Well, if you are seeking perfection, it does.  But if you are seeking to revel in your simplistic ability to create something imperfect instead of nothing at all ,  there are moments of creative inspiration everywhere you look! On this particular day, I opened my daily poetry em

Petals :: 52 Photos Project

Where I live the Bradford Pears have bloomed and blown and the Cherry Blossoms are in full blossom.  Even though that means our allergy season is now officially underway, I cannot help opening our windows every morning in hopes of hearing the birds singing to greet the day.  Springtime has conveniently coincided with my personal recovery process from knee surgery.  As I am slowly re-gaining mobility on crutches it seems an added encouragement that the weather is also improving and the trees are welcoming my return with their flowers. What a treat it would be to be able to put down my crutches in time for Easter Sunday and walk again on my own! (I am doubtful but one can hope.) Sharing with 52 Photos Project :: Petals
